Who wants to be the first Lady?????

We know who's gracing the September 2008 covers of most American glossies, but there's one big unknown still out there: Harper's Bazaar. This weekend, a rumor got floated around that Tyra Banks is dressing up as Michelle Obama for the big shot, in a "full makeover."

Pop goes black and white

Franca Sozzani is feeling it, and now Katie Grand is too: the six covers of POP Fall 2008 are evenly split between three black models (Jourdan Dunn, Naomi Campbell, Oluchi Onweagba) and three white models (Natalia Vodianova, Amber Valletta, Agyness Deyn), styled as "Hot Nuns" in Prada and photographed by Sebastian Faena.
Jourdan, with her Frida Kahlo brows, and Agyness, with her holy pose are most striking, but I for one can't wait to see the Agyness Deyn editorial inside we've been talking about for months. You know, the one where Ryan McGinley had her jumping nude off a fire escape?

Back to the start

Here's a fun anecdote: Recently Annie Leibovitz assembled Vogue’s photographers for a group portrait, instructing David Bailey to settle himself between the legs of Grace Coddington. “F*** me,” laughed Bailey, “I’m back where I was 46 years ago.” The room fell into an appalled politically-correct silence. “Whoops!” he chortles, relishing the story.

Fashion is not a luxury

Last Saturday, Cecilia Dean attended the "decadent chic"-themed Watermill Center benefit in the Hamptons, and Style.com tracked her down to get the lowdown on her outfit:
Other than the shoes, which are Balenciaga, I'm wearing head to toe H&M. It doesn't matter if it's designer or H&M, if you spend, you know, $1,000 on something or $59.99 on something, it's just always fun to wear something new and just have fun with it.

It's not every day that you can get an editor to confess to wearing a label like H&M, especially to an event — blame the economic times if you want — but Style.com must have loved it, because Cecilia's ensemble landed her a place on the week's Ten Best Dressed list.

My new favorite Show: Secret Diary of a Call Girl

After watching 7 episodes last night in a row, we are def. hooked on Showtime's new Show "Secret Diary of a call Girl.
Check it out at: http://www.sho.com/site/secretdiary

Belle (real name Hannah Baxter) is a 27-year-old graduate living in London, who has worked for the last few years as a high class escort. She’s an independent, witty young woman who loves her job and unconventional lifestyle. Belle is able to do her job by compartmentalizing her life into Hannah and Belle, but over time she finds these compartments increasingly hard to maintain.

Calvin back in NYC

Calvin Klein wants a piece of the American Dream. Are you in?

Good news for girls in Gotham: This year, for the first time ever, Calvin Klein Menswear will show in New York during Fashion Week, instead of in Milan.

Translation: many hot boys, and easier access to many hot looks for your boys.

Don’t get too excited though - the stateside move is a temporary one honoring the brand’s 40th Anniversary this year. The change is likely to garner some attention for the label, which means maybe you can get your boyfriend / brother / hopelessly unfashionable best friend out of their saggy jeans and into something more successful.

Unfortunately, there will be no instant gratification, as we’ll have to wait for the Fall ‘09 show in February to see the delicious creations (clothes and men alike) strut down the catwalk.

But we think it’ll be worth it. Because as style arbiter Jim Moore said, “When I think of Calvin Klein, I think of modern, timeless design – and what could be more timeless than coming back to New York?”

I am not sure if it's the model or the glasses, but something looks wrong.

Runway vs Red Carpet

What do you think?

TERRORIST'S DAUGHTER IS THE NEW FACE OF A LINGERIE BRAND

The picture of her wielding a machine gun was one of the most infamous of the seventies, but now it is Patty Hearst’s model daughter who is striking a memorable pose.
Newspaper heiress Patty became notorious after joining the American guerilla group that kidnapped her.
More than three decades later, her 23 year-old daughter has been named the face and body of lingerie designers Myla and appears in a series of provocative poses wearing satin and silk underwear.

Original supermodel Linda Evangelista signs as face of Prada

More than 20 years after taking the modelling world by storm, Canadian Linda Evangelista has signed up to be the new face of Prada.
Still beautiful at the age of 43, Linda, who once declared she “didn’t get out of bed for less than $10,000″, will front the Italian fashion house’s autumn/winter collection.
And the mother-of one is not the only original supermodel still very much in vogue.
Starring in the latest Yves Saint Laurent campaign is British beauty Naomi Campbell, 38, while Christy Turlington, who is one year older, is the most recent face of fashion brand Escada.
Baby of the group is German blonde Claudia Schiffer. At 37, she is modelling for Italian label Salvator Ferragamo.
“Time makes them more interesting,” said Chanel’s iconic designer Karl Lagerfeld. “They are, and stay, irreplaceable.”

Model of the Week: EGLE TVIRBUTAITE,

Egle Tvirbutaite is no newcomer to the fashion world, but this Major model has been quickly climbing the ranks.

The face for GF Ferre, French Connection, and TopShop (alongside Iekeliene Stange), the Lithuanian beauty has racked in several accomplishments in addition to opening Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 08 runway show, closing John Rocha with the designer himself, and gracing the cover of Wonderland all in the past year. She also popped up again for Resort season, booking Christian Dior, Stella McCartney, and Zac Posen.

Calvin Klein's Latest Controversy - We think its hot! Check it out!

Calvin Klein apparently has its very own Nipplegate.

The fashion house is once again pushing the edge advertisingwise, this time with the steamy TV ads featuring Eva Mendes for its new fragrance, Secret Obsession, from Coty Inc. And the spots already are controversial even before they air — the American networks failed to accept them. What’s tripping up the censors? An all-nude Mendes shows a little too much up top.

“This development is not entirely a surprise for the U.S. market,” said Tom Murry, president and chief operating officer of Calvin Klein Inc.

“We believe the commercial is exceptional and hits the mark for Secret Obsession. We will reach our consumers in the U.S. primarily through the Web site, the print campaign and at point of sale. We are anticipating a very successful global launch.”
