Stevens 2 for 1






The September issue of Vogue has a "2-For-1 Special" photo spread, shot in a supermarket by Steven Meisel and starring Amber Valetta and Kirsty Hume. The story is supposedly about dual-toned sheaths, but just like everything else this fall, it's about Mad Men! The retro housewife aesthetic.

The editors at Vogue Brazil seem to be listening to some of the criticism and making an effort to present better content. The latest cover of the magazine, featuring five promising newcomers, is the best and coolest I have seen on the magazine in a long time.

Here's a fun anecdote: Recently Annie Leibovitz assembled Vogue’s photographers for a group portrait, instructing David Bailey to settle himself between the legs of Grace Coddington. “F*** me,” laughed Bailey, “I’m back where I was 46 years ago.” The room fell into an appalled politically-correct silence. “Whoops!” he chortles, relishing the story.

Keira Knightley and Jessica Simpson Land September Covers



The fat, highly anticipated September fall fashion magazines are almost upon us. Can't you just feel their weight in your arms right now? Vogue is taking a risk with its cover girl, Keira Knightley. Knightley last appeared on the June 2007 cover, which was the second-lowest seller of that half of the year, moving just 405,000 copies. Still, that's a lot more than Gwyneth Paltrow's May 2008 cover, which sold just 310,000 copies.
